If you've started looking for live entertainment for your wedding, you've probably noticed something: almost no Irish wedding band lists their prices online. That's not bands being cagey — it's because the honest answer to "how much does a wedding band cost?" is genuinely it depends, and a single number on a website often ends up being misleading rather than helpful.

Here's what actually affects the price:

The day of the week

Saturday weddings during peak season are in the highest demand, so pricing tends to sit at the top end. Midweek and off-season dates are often more flexible, and many bands — us included — are open to discussing this if a date works well for both sides.

Band-only vs. band + DJ

Most couples want music to carry the whole night, not just the live set. A band-only package covers your reception performance; adding a DJ service extends the night with a professional PA and lighting setup after the band finishes. This is usually the single biggest factor in the final price.

Location and travel

A band travelling a short distance to your venue costs differently than one travelling across the country. We're based in Drogheda, Co. Louth, and our core area covers Louth, Meath, Dublin, Cavan and Monaghan — but we regularly travel further, with a small additional travel fee for events outside that core area.

Band size and setup

The number of musicians, the amount of equipment, and the complexity of the setup (staging, lighting, sound) all factor in. A four-piece band with a full production setup is a different cost than a three-piece acoustic act.

Experience and demand

Bands with a strong track record, consistent lineup, and high demand for their dates naturally price differently than a band just starting out. This isn't about one being "better" than another — it reflects the realities of a band's booking calendar and reputation.
